My first three-tier cake for a Princess

Decoration was finished with marzipan crown, roses and chocolate writing

I've just finished decoration of the new cake made for the 21-st birthday of a young lady. The request was to make a romantic cake with roses and a writing "Princess" on top of it. I've never tried to assemble several layers of the cake...or better to say to connect three separate cakes into one. I can say I've accomplished the task using wooden sticks which I found at the grocery store. These were initially designed for grilling meat or barbecue :) I think they worked quite well for stacking the tiers of the cake.
I baked 3 layers of sponge cake which I cut in halves and soaked with a sugar syrup to make them nice and moist. I used my favorite butter-cream recipe to cover the cake and decorate the borders. I finished decoration with marzipan roses, leaves and a golden crown for a real Princess.

Sponge layers were cut in two, moistened with a sugar syrup and covered with strawberries and butter-cream filling

Three layers were then covered with beige, yellow and salmon butter-cream and connected with a help of 5 wooden sticks going all the way down through the cake
